FERPA Compliance & Student Privacy Policy
At Sheloo Inc., we are committed to providing a secure, privacy-focused educational environment for K–12 schools and districts. Little You 3D is designed with data minimization and student privacy in mind. This policy describes how Sheloo Inc. handles student information and supports schools and districts in meeting their obligations under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), and other applicable student privacy requirements.

1. Our Role as a “School Official”
When a school or school district authorizes the use of Little You 3D, Sheloo Inc. may operate as a “school official” under the FERPA school official exception, where the applicable requirements are satisfied.

In this role, Sheloo Inc.:
•    Processes student information only as necessary to provide, maintain, secure, and support the Little You 3D educational service;
•    Operates under the direction and control of the applicable school or district with respect to the use and maintenance of FERPA-protected education records;
•    Uses student information only for authorized educational and service-related purposes;
•    Does not sell, rent, or trade student personal information; and
•    Does not use student personal information for targeted advertising or to create commercial marketing profiles of individual students.

Schools and districts remain responsible for determining whether and how Little You 3D is approved for use within their educational programs.

2. Data Minimization, SSO, and COPPA
Sheloo Inc. follows a data-minimization approach and seeks to collect only the information reasonably necessary to provide the Little You 3D service.

Where available, schools and districts may use Single Sign-On (SSO) integrations, including Clever, ClassLink, or Google Workspace. Depending on the configuration and permissions established by the school or district, SSO may reduce the need for students or teachers to manually provide account information. Sheloo Inc. receives only the information made available through the applicable integration and uses that information for authorized purposes.

For students under 13, Sheloo Inc. complies with applicable requirements of COPPA. Where a school or school district authorizes Little You 3D for educational use, Sheloo Inc. may rely on school authorization where permitted under COPPA and applicable law, provided that information collected from students is used for the educational purposes authorized by the school or district.

When accounts are provisioned through a school or district, the school or district is responsible for ensuring that the use of Little You 3D is authorized in accordance with its policies and applicable law.

Sheloo Inc. does not use personal information collected from children through school-authorized use of Little You 3D for behavioral advertising or to build commercial marketing profiles.

For additional information regarding our practices relating to children under 13, please see our COPPA Policy.

3. Little You 3D Assets and Student-Generated Avatars
Little You 3D provides students with proprietary 3D models, characters, clothing, accessories, colors, graphics, designs, and other creative assets developed and owned by Sheloo Inc. or its licensors (collectively, “Little You 3D Assets”).

Students do not upload or create their own 3D models on the Little You 3D platform. Instead, students create avatars by selecting, combining, and customizing the Little You 3D Assets made available through the platform, including changing available colors and other permitted attributes.

Ownership of Little You 3D Assets
Sheloo Inc. retains all right, title, and interest in and to the Little You 3D Assets, including associated copyrights, designs, trademarks, and other intellectual property rights.

A student’s selection, combination, customization, or use of Little You 3D Assets does not transfer ownership of those assets or the associated intellectual property rights to the student, school, or district.

The resulting avatar is generated from Little You 3D Assets and remains subject to Sheloo Inc.’s intellectual property rights and the applicable Little You 3D Terms of Service.

Sheloo Inc. may store and process student-configured avatars and their associated configurations as necessary to provide, operate, maintain, secure, and support the Little You 3D service.

4. Permitted Uses and De-Identified Information
Sheloo Inc. does not sell, rent, or trade student personal information.

Student personal information is not used for targeted advertising or to create commercial marketing profiles of individual students.

Sheloo Inc. may use student information as necessary to:
•    Provide and maintain the Little You 3D platform;
•    Authenticate users and manage accounts;
•    Provide customer and technical support;
•    Store and display student-configured avatars;
•    Generate and process 3D model files for authorized educational or printing purposes;
•    Maintain the security and integrity of the platform;
•    Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or security incidents;
•    Troubleshoot and improve platform performance and functionality; and
•    Comply with applicable legal obligations.

Sheloo Inc. may create aggregated or de-identified information for legitimate purposes such as analytics, research, product improvement, and service development.

Information will be considered de-identified only when it has been processed in accordance with applicable law so that there is no reasonable basis to believe that the information can be used to identify an individual student.

Sheloo Inc. may use appropriately de-identified or aggregated information for lawful business purposes, subject to applicable legal and contractual requirements.

5. Data Security Safeguards
Sheloo Inc. maintains administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect student information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.

Our security safeguards include, as applicable:
•    Encryption of data in transit and at rest;
•    Role-Based Access Control (RBAC);
•    Access controls based on legitimate business need;
•    Authentication and authorization controls;
•    Security monitoring and logging;
•    Measures designed to protect the confidentiality and integrity of student information; and
•    Procedures designed to identify, respond to, and mitigate security incidents.

Access to systems containing student information is limited to authorized Sheloo Inc. personnel who require access to perform their job responsibilities.

6. Access, Correction, and Deletion Requests
FERPA provides parents and eligible students with certain rights regarding education records. Because schools and districts maintain control over education records provided to Sheloo Inc., requests relating to FERPA education records should generally be directed to the applicable school or district.

Sheloo Inc. will reasonably assist an authorized school or district with requests to access, correct, or delete student information maintained by Sheloo Inc., subject to applicable law and contractual requirements.

Upon written direction from an authorized school or district representative, Sheloo Inc. will delete or de-identify applicable student personal information within the timeframe required by the applicable agreement or, where no specific timeframe applies, within a commercially reasonable period.

Where appropriate and requested by the school or district, deletion may include removing the association between a student’s identity and their student-configured avatar or other account information.

Sheloo Inc. may retain information where necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, maintain security, or otherwise as permitted by applicable law.

Information stored in backup systems may remain temporarily available in accordance with Sheloo Inc.’s backup and disaster-recovery procedures and will be deleted or overwritten in accordance with those procedures.

7. Contractual Privacy Protections
Where required by a school, district, state law, or other applicable requirement, Sheloo Inc. may enter into a Data Privacy Agreement, Student Data Privacy Agreement, or other written agreement governing the collection, use, disclosure, security, retention, and deletion of student information.

If an applicable written agreement contains privacy, security, retention, or deletion requirements that are more restrictive than this policy, the applicable contractual requirements will govern the parties’ relationship to the extent permitted by law.

8. Changes to This Policy
Sheloo Inc. may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes to our services, privacy practices, applicable laws, or regulatory requirements.

When material changes are made, we will update the effective date of this policy and provide additional notice where required by applicable law or contractual obligations.
